The Action Foundation Engages in Discussions on Accessibility in Washington, D.C.

Marshall, MN – The Action Foundation recently spent time in Washington, D.C., participating in discussions with leaders from the National Park Foundation, National Park Service, and the White House. These conversations focused on ways to enhance accessibility in public spaces, particularly within national parks, to ensure that all individuals, regardless of ability, can fully experience and enjoy them.

Audra Klinkner, Executive Director of The Action Foundation, met with Stefanie Martin of the National Park Foundation and Jeremy Buzzell from the National Park Service to exchange ideas on improving park infrastructure, expanding accessible trails, and enhancing visitor experiences for people with disabilities.

Additionally, Klinkner met with Lavin Gartland, the White House’s Liaison for Veterans Affairs, to discuss the importance of ensuring veterans have access to necessary resources and support. Various legislative staffers from Minnesota and beyond also contributed to the conversations, highlighting a shared commitment to fostering accessibility and inclusion.

Meetings also included discussions with Representative Fischbach’s staff and other Minnesota delegates, including Senator Tina Smith, emphasizing the value of collaboration in addressing accessibility challenges.

“It was inspiring to connect with so many dedicated individuals working toward making our public spaces more welcoming and accessible,” said Klinkner. “These discussions reinforced the importance of continued efforts to improve access for all.”
